Turncoat Turtle
Turncoat Turtle is a new, custom programming language with accompanying interpreter and drawing canvas. The language reference is open at startup, you can close it of course, and also available as a download.
You control a turtle that drags a pen behind it via the program. However, you can also change the behaviour of the interpreter at runtime. Pretty much anything can be changed during runtime, both via the language itself and via the panel on the right.
I've created the language from the ground up, it is not a very good language to be fair.
It is dynamically typed. Possible types are null, f64, string and array[<value>]. Only syntax, which is a little like Rust, is checked at "compile time". Everything else is a runtime error.
One note on "running backwards": make sure to declare variables twice. I.e. something like:
let a = 100;
forward(a);
let a = 50;
This way running forwards and backwards defines a.
AI Disclaimer
Some AI was used to help me with some things. Specifically, only
- the bevy boilerplate
- bevy setup for egui
- mesh building & shader for rendering the lines
- pan & zoom
- additional build setup for wasm & webgl
- some test code (excluding the startup example)
